Walking Tacoma's Waterfront

Spring has finally come to the Puget Sound.  One of the surest signs of spring are the happy Pierce County residents who flock to Tacoma’s Ruston Way waterfront.

This park is located along Commencement Bay.  Two miles of paved trails give walkers incredible panoramic views of the Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier, Vashon Island, and Browns Point.  A round trip walk from beginning to end takes about an hour and boasts some of the finest views around.

In addition to walking, Ruston Way (maintained by Metro Parks) boasts:

  • Two miles of paved walkways
  • Picnic tables and grills
  • Grassy play areas
  • Fishing pier
  • Boat dock
  • Beach Access
  • Kayak/canoe ramp

Ruston way is also where Tacoma holds it’s annual 4th of July Celebration, the Freedom Fair. For 2011, the Freedom Fair will be held from July 1st-4th.
