When you drive the same gridlocked route day after day to and from work, the idea that you could be taking the same trip on a bus or a train while reading a book or taking a nap can sound very tempting. That said, learning to use public transportation after a lifetime of driving a car can be intimidating. Do you pay when you get on or when you get off? Can you use cash or a card?
Pierce Transit and Downtown on the Go! are offering guided “Try the Bus” events in Pierce County in the month of October. This gives you the opportunity to experience public transportation with a group of curious new riders and an experienced guide, without the pressure and stress of not knowing what you’re doing. Events will be held on the following days:
Tuesday, Oct. 18
Meet at the TCC P&R at 7a.m. and take one of many downtown routes to 10th
Thursday, Oct. 20
Meet at 10th and Commerce (near Frost Park) at 11:45 a.m. and we’ll take the 16 to the Rosewood Café at noon and return by 1:15 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 25
Meet at the South Hill Puyallup P&R at 7 a.m. and take the NEW Route 400 (Puyallup Express) into downtown Tacoma.
Thursday, Oct. 27
Meet at 10th and Commerce (near Frost Park) at 4:50 and we’ll take the Route 11 to Sixth Avenue.
